Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow

RESEARCH:
The goal of Shira Lupkin’s research is to understand how subjective value is integrated with visual information to guide decision making and, in particular, how these associations flexibly change depending on the current context. To accomplish this, Lupkin leverages state-of-the-art neural recording technologies with AI/ML approaches to understand how the interactions between different brain regions subserve these processes.

BIO:
Shira Lupkin is a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. David Freedman’s laboratory at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on how the brain integrates information about our environments to guide flexible, context-appropriate decision making. Lupkin uses a combination of behavioral, electrophysiological, and computational techniques to study how the disparate brain regions interact in order to guide these processes. Lupkin holds a BA in psychology from Barnard College, Columbia University and a PhD in neuroscience from Rutgers University.
